We are the responsible party for your personal information, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
POPIA requires every organisation to appoint an Information Officer and register that person with the Information Regulator.

Your name, email address, and the content of your message. If you choose to give them, your phone number and the name of your organisation — both optional fields on our contact form.
Our contact form does not transmit anything to us by itself. It opens a message in your own email programme, addressed to us, which you then choose to send. Nothing is stored on this website.
Your name, email address, and the amount, date and method of your donation. Bank transfers reach us through First National Bank. Card and wallet donations reach us through PayPal.
In addition to the above, your identity number or income tax reference number, and your physical or postal address. SARS requires these on a valid 18A receipt — we cannot issue a certificate without them.
Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected by our hosting provider as part of normal website operation and security logging.
We do not knowingly collect special personal information — such as health, religious or biometric information — through this website.

We will not use your personal information for any purpose you would not reasonably expect. We will not sell it, rent it, or trade it to anyone.
We will only send you marketing or fundraising communications by email if you have specifically opted in to receive them. Every such message will carry a working unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time, at no cost, by using that link or by emailing [email protected].
Some of our service providers — including PayPal and our website host — store data on servers outside South Africa. Section 72 of POPIA permits this where the recipient is subject to laws or binding rules providing substantially similar protection. We satisfy ourselves that this is the case before using a provider.
After these periods we delete or de-identify the information.
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to secure personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. These include serving the website over HTTPS, restricting access to donation records to the people who need it, and using multi-factor authentication on the accounts that hold Foundation data.
If a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible, as POPIA requires.
